New airline welcomed ceremoniously - SCN looks forward to cooperation

Welcome to Saarbrücken Airport: This evening, the airline Wizz Air started its operations at SCN. The airport fire department traditionally welcomed the Airbus from Sarajevo with a water fountain. SCN Managing Director Thomas Schuck personally welcomed the crew. The aircraft was almost fully booked both on arrival and departure. Now there are non-stop flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays from Saarland to the capital of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has a population of around 300,000.

"We are looking forward to the future cooperation," said SCN CEO Thomas Schuck. "Eastern destinations are also becoming increasingly important for Saarbrücken Airport. Sarajevo is a start, more connections can follow. The market, i.e. the employees and people with origins in this region, their relatives and acquaintances, as well as the catchment area for city tourism, is there. We are well equipped for this at SCN."

Like SCN, Wizz Air also sees potential in the connection, especially since Sarajevo International Commercial Airport (SJJ) is just a few kilometers from the city center. "The new partner airport of Saarbrücken rounds off our airline's offering in Germany in a meaningful way," Wizz Air press spokeswoman Zsuzsa Trubek is pleased to say. So far, Wizz Air is taking off from ten German airports. In addition to its focus on Eastern Europe, the airline now also serves other destinations in the south and west of the continent.

"Sarajevo today is the capital of a young country and an economic center with a lot of potential," emphasizes Zsuzsa Trubek. "Sights are the oriental-style old town with several mosques and churches, the bazaar and numerous stores. The old town was renovated after the war."
