Wide beaches and oriental flair
Djerba is the largest island in North Africa, located just off the coast of Tunisia. The sun shines here on an average of 324 days. The island is also known as "La Douce" (the gentle one) and, with over 125 kilometers of coastline with endless white sandy beaches and crystal-clear water, invites you to enjoy extensive beach vacations. Djerba is particularly popular with water sports enthusiasts and families. But camel rides in the Sahara and soukhs in the capital are also among the island's highlights.

Sights and tips
Djerbahood
Street art enthusiasts should definitely visit the small village of Erriadh. There you will find the open-air museum "Djerbahood" with beautiful motifs on the white walls of the traditional buildings. The museum was opened in 2014. Over 150 artists from all over Erriadh have created 250 breathtaking paintings and graffiti using more than 4,500 spray cans of paint. A walk through the streets of Erriadh is a creatively inspiring experience.
Musée de Guellala
The Musée de Guellala is located on the road from Guellala to Cedouikech in the south of Djerba. At the highest point of the island, the building clearly reflects the tradition of local architecture. The museum is located in the immediate vicinity of the pottery town of Guellala. In the museum, visitors will find many re-enacted scenes from the traditional everyday life and working life of the islanders.
A selection of souvenirs and other mementos can also be purchased in a small gallery. Guided tours of the museum are available by appointment.
La Ghriba Synagogue
A visit to La Ghriba Synagogue, one of the most famous synagogues in North Africa, is an experience not to be missed. It is the oldest Jewish house of prayer in the whole of North Africa. Rather inconspicuous from the outside, the blue and white tiles inside glow in the sunlight. The synagogue's most important treasure is a Torah scroll, which is one of the oldest in the world, and a stone from the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem.
A visit to La Ghriba Synagogue will teach you about the Jewish history of Djerba and the significance of this holy site. The synagogue serves as an important place of pilgrimage for the Jews living in North Africa.
