SunExpress will offer a new connection from Saarbrücken Airport to Turkey in 2023, namely to the metropolis of Izmir on the Aegean coast.

The connection will start on May 26, 2023, and will then be served up to twice a week on Mondays and Fridays during the summer. Izmir is thus the second destination of the vacation airline from SCN, alongside Antalya. The destination can be booked now both as a "flight only"(www.sunexpress.com) and as part of package tours in Germany and France.

SunExpress is highly valued at Saarbrücken Airport as a reliable airline. "We are very pleased about the additional commitment of SunExpress and that the airline is responding quickly and straightforwardly to the increasing demand. We expect passenger numbers to continue to grow, especially since this year's development should already exceed the 2019 figures by around 50 percent," says SCN Supervisory Board Chairman and Saarland Economics Minister Jürgen Barke.

SunExpress also shone at Saarbrücken Airport during the summer with its outstanding reliability and punctuality. For years, it has been one of the world's ten best vacation airlines; in 2022, it even reached the top spot and received the coveted Skytax World Airline Award for this.

"From the beautiful Saar to the equally beautiful Turkish Aegean in a good three hours - and with the best vacation airline in the world according to Skytrax! Who wouldn't want to get on that?" says Peter Glade, SunExpress Commercial Director about the new connection. "With the launch of the two weekly flights to Izmir next summer, we are adding another Turkish dream destination to our existing route from Saarbrücken Airport to Antalya. Saarlanders will thus have even more choices next year for an unforgettable summer vacation with SunExpress."
